Tom Clancy's The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership was established to create a TTRPG that explores the series' apocalyptic landscape. This initiative was revealed, with a funding drive planned to launch in April of 2026.
"This project will bring the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the table, offering fans a fresh avenue to experience The Division through immersive storytelling and player-driven missions," states an announcement.
Launch products will include a starter set, essential manuals, a Game Master screen, figurines, and several deluxe editions.
Exploring The Division's Dystopian World
In this universe, a deadly virus called Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, sending the United States into chaos. As the crisis escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups emerge, transforming the city into a battlefield. To restore law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents come in.
Development on the RPG has been underway for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will function as a pre-launch sales platform to access a wider audience, particularly in the United States. Manufacturing is slated to begin right after the campaign, with deliveries expected for the latter part of 2026.
An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System
A preview at the system reveals it employs 10-sided dice exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, promoting a fast-paced and strategic approach. Agents leverage abilities to roll a handful of dice, typically from one to five d10s.
- Rather than summing the total, participants choose a single “resolution die” from the group.
- This die is then measured against a set challenge number.
- Rolling a perfect 10 grants additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.
Engagements Focus On Tactical Placement and Situational Insight
Battles prioritize placement and situational awareness, reflecting the source material. Factors like cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence dice rolls. This system is designed to favor teamwork and smart positioning over simple statistics.
A Thematic Health Mechanic
The way injuries is tracked adds a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a injury limit; taking heavy hits reduces their effectiveness by decreasing the number of d10s.
- At critical condition, an agent collapses, but they’re not unconscious.
- They may still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state common to many shooter games.
- Any player knocked down must roll on a trauma table, potentially gaining lingering conditions like shock or mobility-impairing wounds.
A Ready-to-Play Adventure
A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It contains a ready-to-play starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, the group spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an attack by the violent Rikers faction, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled closer to the Kickstarter start date.
