Dean Henderson Had little to do to perform before the break until forced to intervene from Arbër Hoxha’s bent shot. His sliding tackle against an Albanian attacker highlighted sharp reading of the game. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Challenged against Albania’s biggest threat in Hoxha. Started more centrally to begin with then shifted out wide after Saka was introduced. Seven

The defender Advanced forward on the ball, as he has done in the past. At times was too casual on the ball with the tactic discontinued at half-time. 6/10

The tall defender A constant threat from dead balls, as always, but may be a replacement for Stones in defense as opposed to his partner. One wayward distribution later in the match came close to a goal for Albania. 6

The young full-back One more composed showing from the rising star after his initial appearance against another side. A teammate did not capitalize on the opportunity from a gorgeous flick over their defense. The role is his to lose already. Seven

Adam Wharton His maiden beginning in an England shirt. A bit careless when playing out though his whipped deliveries were a threat. A useful game manager for the coach to have against teams who drop deep. Shown a yellow for a poorly timed challenge. 6/10

Declan Rice Deliveries from corners and free kicks caused problems. Was given license to move in left midfield yet found himself in an offside position as the pass came with a chance to score. Granted a merited substitution around the 60-minute point. 6/10

Jude Bellingham Played in an advanced position on the right and did plenty of the hard yards. Showed flashes of quality and scuffed an attempt over. Replaced in the closing stages for a teammate, a fellow player, after being booked. 7

The winger Had England’s top opening of the first half, his effort well saved by the Albanian keeper. With Quansah holding position, it fell to him to provide width down the right side but his crosses from wide areas were inconsistent. Substituted with 15 to go. Six

The captain The difference-maker netting two more finishes for his country. His first a typical poacher’s finish and his next a superb headed goal after peeling away away from the opposition. Aged 32, his form is unwavering and the side have every chance next summer with him up top. Eight

The attacker Found it tough to get into the game out wide. Was presented with a good opening following a pass from a teammate however the keeper denied him. Rashford produced a bigger effect after coming on. Five

• Morgan Rogers (for Bellingham with minutes remaining) Insufficient minutes to influence the game, 6/10
