Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, Farage outlined his perspective on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”
Reacting to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.
“Farage has built his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” Kebede stated.
“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the educational framework. He said: “We have got a massive job with education – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Paying tribute to a conservative activist, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to current practices where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
The politician has charged Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and has argued that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in recent years led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for children.
During the American gathering, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”
The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
