Hungarian Author László Krasznahorkai Awarded Nobel Prize in Literature
László Krasznahorkai has won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
This Magyar author was recognised "for his compelling and visionary oeuvre that, in the midst of apocalyptic fear, asserts the strength of literature."
He has authored 5 works of fiction and won countless other literary honors, including the 2015's International Booker Award, and the 2013 top translated work award in Fiction for his debut novel "Satantango", a postmodern creation regarding the end of the world.
The writer is the next Hungarian novelist to obtain the award subsequent to the late Imre Kertesz, who was awarded in the year 2002.
Born in the mid-1950s, Krasznahorkai obtained acclaim in 1985 when he issued Satantango, which he converted for the big screen in 1994.
This b&w drama, by Magyar director Tarr Bela, is famous for its seven-hour duration.

His newest ironic book, Zsömle Odavan, reverts to the Hungarian setting.
The protagonist is elderly Uncle Kada, who has a confidential claim to the throne but has taken extreme measures to fade away from the globe.
