Golf England Seeks Public Backing for the year 2030 Women's Golf Showcase Hosting Proposal
The last Solheim Cup taking place in Europe took place in Spain in 2023, with the next tournament scheduled for the Netherlands four years from now.
In the wake of the latest men's golf championship triumph, England Golf is calling on the government to guarantee their proposal to host the premier women's golf event in the country for the first time.
This renowned competition between the top female golfers of Europe and the United States has been held on two occasions in Scotland and in Wales but never in England. A bid has been put together to hold it at The Grove within Hertfordshire in 2030.
But organizers are seeking £30m to back the bid and currently just ten million pounds is in place. The organizing body is requesting public backing to underwrite the remaining amount.
