Former BBC Advisers Participate in Parliamentary Grilling In the Wake of Allegations of Partiality in Leaked Memo
We start with questions from Conservative MP the panel's head, that oversees the panel.
She initiates by offering details to the unauthorized memo written by Michael Prescott and printed in a national newspaper.
"I don't want the BBC slanting this way or that way, My only wish is for it neutral, unbiased and just," he states.
In response to a query whether he thinks the BBC is systematically partial, Prescott answers: "No, I do not. It is important to note, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is top-tier - encompassing informative and non-factual shows."
Nevertheless, he states: "There is significant effort that needs to be done at the British Broadcasting Corporation."
The second ex-adviser BBC adviser interviewed by the panel, Caroline Daniel, remarks she views the British Broadcasting Corporation extremely earnestly and that it has a "ongoing system and active debate" on fluid and multifaceted issues.
"Whether the BBC was ready to have a proper discussion and exchange and take action?" she asks herself. "In my view, indeed, they were."
