Mr Comey's attorney submitted the plea acting as his counsel in a federal court in the Virginia city of Alexandria on mid-week.
The defense lawyer stated he would seek to have the legal matter dismissed for various causes including that his the accused, a critic of President Donald Trump, was being singled out.
The former director was formally accused shortly after Trump pushed his attorney general to take action against him.
Judicial Process
At the proceedings on Wednesday, Comey's lawyer the legal representative informed the court they intended to submit various petitions to dismiss the legal matter before a trial, arguing the prosecution was spiteful and that a government lawyer was unlawfully assigned to handle the proceedings.
James Comey's legal matter was originally handled by a Virginia prosecutor, who left his position under influence from the former president after his examination into an additional political adversary - NY AG Letitia James - did not succeed to bring criminal charges.
Legal Setting
The former director appeared in good spirits as he entered the courtroom on mid-week, chatting with his attorneys and sharing humor. He was supported by his spouse, Patrice Failor and daughter Maureen, a government attorney who the previous administration terminated.
Upon hearing to the judge read his rights and the pair of allegations against him in court on Wednesday, the defendant was inquired if he understood the allegations.
"I do your honour. Thank you very much," he stated to the court.

The former director was the FBI Director from four years and was fired about a few months into Trump's initial presidency as president. At the period, he was leading an probe into international campaign influence and whether there were any relationships between Moscow and the election effort.
Throughout his leadership, Mr Comey caused a counter-response from liberal politicians when he declared just days before the national vote that he was probing political contender the candidate's use of a non-governmental email account. Legal actions against the candidate were not pursued, resulting in criticism from the Republican party as well.
Current Allegations
Prosecutors allege James Comey gave untrue statements to the legislature during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in September 2020 when he was being questioned about both the Clinton investigation as well as the election interference investigation. They claim he misled the Senate by stating he had not permitted an individual at the agency to disclose to journalistic entities data about the government examinations.
Legal representatives also charge the defendant of "corruptly endeavoring to influence, obstruct and delay" the legislative group by providing untrue information to it.
