Chopper Twirls Out of Control into Palm Fronds at Frequented California Beach
A helicopter flying near a well-attended California shoreline abruptly started spinning uncontrollably, ultimately descending rapidly and smashing into a line of palm groves as spectators looked on.
Recordings posted online depict the helicopter beginning to twirl above the shoreline then falling near the edge of the coast, where it becomes wedged among palms and a staircase close to the coastal road.
Rescue Operation Details
Local firefighters said five persons were rushed to the hospital involving a pair who were in the chopper and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the crash on the weekend.
Three people on the road were hurt. Details on their injuries were not immediately available.
What led to the incident was still under investigation.
