It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the unit that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a side that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, regaining their record for the largest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the outcome of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India momentarily interrupted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Many contend the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she was the highest scorer, but this innings came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because I feel like I've had no rhythm at all," said Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in every game, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from that point the batsman was on her way.

"An opportunity to play and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 as she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed the team required another 66 at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the assurance to accomplish that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, should it happen, we believe we can succeed."

These statements will be the ultimate thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

In recent days a belief they will win from any position has become more firm - this success following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a match against old rivals England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they left last year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she later admitted those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this tournament is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as leader.

Success in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
